Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is expected to give youngsters such as Hector Bellerin, Isaac Hayden, Chuba Akpom and Semi Ajayi a first-team opportunity in Tuesday night's Capital One Cup tie against Southampton.
Midfielders Francis Coquelin and Abou Diaby could also feature along with Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina, signed from Nice in the summer, as Wenger rests several of his regulars.
Full-back Mathieu Debuchy, meanwhile, will be missing for up to three months after surgery on damaged ankle ligaments, and joins Nacho Monreal (back), Yaya Sanogo (hamstring), Theo Walcott (knee) Serge Gnabry (knee) and Olivier Giroud (fractured foot) on the sidelines.
Senegal forward Sadio Mane could make a belated Southampton debut at The Emirates.
Mane completed a £10million move from Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg on transfer deadline day over three weeks ago but the 22-year-old had to wait until last Friday to be granted a work permit and was not involved in Southampton's Barclays Premier League victory at Swansea on Saturday.
James Ward-Prowse and Maya Yoshida should be available for the third-round tie after the pair picked up ankle injuries at the Liberty Stadium but Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld is again likely to miss out through hamstring trouble.
Saints boss Ronald Koeman said: "We like to win everything. If a player's in good shape he's able to play.
