Greuther Fürth v St. Pauli Match preview

Greuther Furth – St.Pauli 01.09.2014

Greuther Furth – St.Pauli – The last match of this round offers us a duel of teams that made almost the same effect in the first three rounds. One win, one draw and one defeat and four received points, with the proviso that Furth played twice away and scored three goals more, so they are therefore better ranked. Both teams started with a draw, and passed the first round of the Cup, but Furth lost in the last round in which St.Pauli won. Overall, Furth was much better in their mutual duels, but last season St.Pauli celebrated in Furth with 4-2, while it was 2-2 in St.Pauli. Begins: 01.09.2014 – 20:15 CET
Greuther Furth

Furth has started the new season quite good, specifically they mastered the team of Nuremberg at home, while they are struggling on the side and after a draw in Bochum, they were defeated in the last round they by Ingolstadt. That was expected win in the Cup, but overall seemed that Furth is in the drop of form. They made some changes in the composition, so the hero of the match and a double scorer against Nuremberg, left-back Baba, left the club and went to Augsburg, so they brought M.Caligiuri and Rojas which will certainly further increase the competition.

However, the departure of Baba was felt in Ingolstadt, where they lost with 2-0 and played quite bad. The injured Schrock was not on the right-back so Pledl played instead of him, while Trinks played instead of Babe. The injured striker Azemi is still out of action, so Przybylko is only solution in the attack, while there could be some changes in midfield which could lead to the first performance of Rojas, M.Caligiuri, and perhaps even Guilherme.

Probable lineups Greuther Furth: Hesl – Rojas, Korcsmar, B.Rocker, Guilherme – M.Caligiuri, Furstner – Stiepermann, Trinks, Weilandt – Przybylko
St.Pauli

St.Pauli has unlike its opponents started the season poorly and played a draw with Ingolstadt at home, but then they lost with 2-0 in Aalen. The match against the lower league team Rathenow in Cup brought them their first victory, which was followed with victory in the championship, when they mastered Sandhausen with 2-1 at home. The most important are the points, however, their game was again problematic and they were for the large part of the match the weaker rival, although they took the lead in the fifth minute.

Their goalkeeper Tschauner, who was the player of the game, saved them from defeat, and they managed to come to a win in the injury time thanks to the goal of their central defender L.Sobiech. It is very concerning is the fact that of three goals, two were scored by their central defenders and it is therefore no wonder that they do not have better results. Coach Vrabec does not make a lot of changes, so after their defeat against Aalen, only Maier was in midfield instead of Gorlitz. Even that did not function well, so we should now again expect Gorlitz from the first minute on the field, while their newcomer defensive midfielder Alushi should replace Kallu.

Probable lineups St.Pauli: Tschauner – Schachten, L.Sobiech, Gonther, Buballa – Alushi, Buchtmann – Rzatkowski, Gorlitz – Budimir, Nothe
Greuther Furth – St.Pauli Pick

Furth is definitely the favourite in this match. They are good at home and will be highly motivated by their defeat in the last round, but St.Pauli does not show the game that could possibly parry the host, so we do not expect that they could surprise us.

Pick: Greuther Furth wins

Stake: 6/10
