Russell Martin (back) will be assessed before Neil Adams’ decides to include his skipper for the game against sixth-placed Brentford, while he also highlighted a potential issue with Kyle Lafferty (ankle) at his pre-match press conference, although both could still feature.

Jonny Howson (knee) and Gary Hooper (calf) have taken part in full training with the first-team squad but will still not be risked, with Friday’s Under-21s game against Leicester City a potential opportunity for both to get match minutes.

Ryan Bennett and Mark Bunn (both ankle) are longer-term absentees.
