Marseille struggling to agree fee for Newcastle defender

Marseille are struggling to agree a fee with Newcastle for out-of-favour defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, according to sources in France.

talkSPORT told you on Thursday that the French international had agreed personal terms with the Ligue 1 side.

Marseille are keen to take the 25-year-old on loan for the season, however the Ligue 1 club are struggling to meet Newcastle's wage demands.

According to French website hat-trick.fr, the Magpies want Marseille to pay 80% of Yanga-Mbiwa's weekly salary.

That would mean paying around £50,000-a-week to secure the Frenchman, with Newcastle putting up the rest.
