TEAM NEWS
Kaiserslautern coach Kosta Runjaic experimented with his line-up during the international break as the Red Devils picked up two friendly wins, including a 4-0 victory against Bundesliga side Freiburg.
Deadline-day signing from Hamburg Kerem Demirbay, who impressed in both fixtures, could slot straight into the starting line-up, but there are unlikely to be many changes from the side which drew 2-2 with Aalen.
There’s no news on the injury front for FSV Frankfurt with Joan Oumari and Chhunly Pagenburg the only absentees for head coach Benno Mohlmann to contend with.
Veteran striker Zlatko Dedic managed to complete 90 minutes in the 1-0 defeat to local top-tier rivals Eintracht Frankfurt and is hoping to force his way into the first XI, preferably alongside as opposed to in place of Edmond Kapllani.

MATCH PREVIEW

Joint top of the 2. Bundesliga standings and having lost just one of their last 15 outings dating back to last season, Kaiserslautern are demonstrating the type of form expected of promotion hopefuls.
Though no team has scored more often than FCK, one clean sheet in their 12 most recent encounters makes for worrying reading. A porous backline saw the Red Devils twice let a one-goal lead slip in the 2-2 draw in Aalen, but at the Betzenberg - where they have won their last four straight - Kosta Runjaic’s charges are a different proposition.
FSV Frankfurt need no warning, though, having conceded seven times in their last two visits. However, on the back of a solid performance in their goalless draw against Leipzig and a two-week break, FSV’s confidence is at least on the rise.
Having lost the last six games in which they’ve conceded the opening goal, a strong start will be key for Benno Mohlmann’s side, who appear to be finding their rhythm up front. However, I still can’t see them beating Kaiserslautern. My money is on a home win.

HEAD TO HEAD

A 1-0 victory on Matchday 23 of the 2008/09 season stands as FSV Frankfurt’s solitary success in eight encounters against Kaiserslautern, who have won the last four meetings scoring an average of three goals a game.
